Orange and Roses (exploring)

8×6 oil on canvas panel Back to the still lifes for a bit. I’ll show you a couple of landscapes I did soon. They’re what lead to this. I tried pumping the color in a blazing sunset. I’m still doing some things to them to finish up, but the idea of working with saturated color became very appealing to me. So, here I go. I’ll be trying to keep it simple so I can learn as I go. That’s what’s so great about daily painting. The freedom to focus on very specific goals let’s me explore things that would just go fumbling along otherwise.

You can accelerate your development by giving yourself a fresh set of challenges, or the same set viewed from a different angle, every day. Explore a different path – if it’s a dead end, explore another. (Paul Foxton)
