Ancient Ruins
November 28th, 2007
$89 unframed
6×8 oil on canvas panel Like the crumbling remains of ancient Greece and Rome, whenever I find these old remnants of seashells, I’m reminded of their past perfection and beauty of form. Bleached of their bright colors, and vacant in their uselessness, they’re still enigmatic in the grandness of their form.
Art strives for form, and hopes for beauty. (George Bellows)
Forms in art arise from the impact of idea upon material… so that thinking and belief and attitudes may endure as actual things. (Ben Shahn)
