8×6 oil on canvas panel
This is the little screened building in the back yard of the cottage we stayed in during our recent visit to Port Aransas. I spent many happy hours painting there. One morning, on my way out, I saw the morning sun illuminating it against the deep shade of the surrounding trees. I went in, grabbed my equipment and came back out to try to catch the freshness of what was delighting my eyes. I was pleased to find that although I hadn’t painted a plein air subject for awhile, I had an increased confidence in my approach because of my daily painting practice. I love painting outside, and I’ll make a point of getting outside to paint more.
