"Pitcher and Pear" (Tinkering with dynamics)

8×6 oil on canvas panel I experimented with using a cool green fill light on the shadow side of the set-up on this one. I like the way it brings light and color to the otherwise “too deep” shadows. I also like the way the pitcher and pear relate, and things happening around the center of interest. When doing small paintings, I think there’s a tendency to sometimes overlook the need for a focal center in a painting. For me, I have to remember to think in the abstract, rather than simply recording objects.
