"Nice Couple" (finding things to paint) N/A

8×6 oil on canvas panel I found this nice little hand thrown pot waiting for me on a shelf in an “abandoned treasures” store with a $1 sticker on it. How can you call them junk stores when their so full of great stuff to paint?! Lasca and I go through these places with the same feeling of fun and anticipation as when we go fishing. Sometimes you catch nothing, but sometimes you hook a lunker. This guy is about a five pound bass. (One man’s fish is another man’s poi, son.) Okay, I’m done. Don’t go away. Anyhow, when I got him home and set him down in the studio, he started chatting with my apples right away. Especially one that echoed his squatty shape. I put ‘em together on the stand and they looked like they were out on a date. I think they make a nice couple. This was easy to paint, and we all got along fine.
