"Morning Dune" (Revisit, Rethink, Revise, Refresh…)

8×6 oil on canvas panel This was adapted from a small portion of a plein air study (above) as a quick paint exercize. This is a fun exercize that enables me to focus on composition, color, brushwork…whatever I might choose. In this one, I was intentionally working against an hour and a half time limit to train myself to make quicker decisions and work faster. This is valuable for working quickly and directly outside, as well as being more spontaneous in the studio. It tends to keep me more focused on the essentials.
