"Happy Circumstance" (Serendipity of DP)

09_18_07.jpg

$89 unframed

6×6 oil on canvas panel There’s something about the feeling of the light and color that I really like about this one. Daily painting creates the opportunity for such pleasing unexpected developments.

“I do my best work and have the most fun when I’m not sure exactly where I’m heading. The process of discovery is exhilarating.” (Jill Cohen)

If we don’t paint regularly we will miss that motivating exhilaration. Sometimes things happen that make a painting stand out for me, and I’m not sure what it is. It could just be that the values are rightly related. That’s often what makes for beautiful color relationship and solidity of form. I like to study these things when they happen, because I want to be able to repeat the happy circumstance.

  1. Hi Jimmy! Just found your blog. I like your style. What I like about this painting is the blue against the orange plus the warmth of the orange outline + shadows.
    Great painting.

  2. Jimmy, For several days I have been enjoying your work. No doubt, I will continue.

I agree with your philosophy on the value of keeping notes and recording your successes. For me, it is much like being back in school - what ever it take to improve the learning process, I am all for it.

    Your art is a joy.
