6×6 oil on canvas panel I enjoyed painting the deep blue glaze of this small ginger jar, and trying to indicate its graceful markings. I’ve mentioned this before, but finding things you want to paint is part of the fun of daily painting. I found the jar while browsing an “abandoned treasure store”, as I call them. It’s difficult for me to keep from overbuying in these places. However, the little 4 inch tall jar was sitting there, covered with dust, and was marked $1! I know I’ll paint it again, and again in various roles. Here it is in its starring debut, after being discovered.

Jimmy, I left a comment today on Dean’s swans and saw your comment so checked out your blog. Love the oranges and perfume bottles. I belong to a group of 11 collaborative painters in Arlington, http://canvasbycanvas.com and just began blogging this summer. I love your paintings.
